Ingredients

  • Watermelon 2 cups, cubed seedless, ripe: Provides natural sweetness and hydration, forming the base of the salad.
  • Cucumber 1 large, chopped into thin slices: Adds crispiness and a refreshing bite.
  • Feta cheese 1/2 cup, crumbled: Adds creaminess and a salty contrast to the sweet watermelon.
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste: Adds a peppery kick that balances the sweetness.

Equipment

  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon for tossing
  • Measuring cup (if using feta block)

Method

  1. Cube the watermelon and chop the cucumber into thin slices.
  2. Add a handful of fresh mint or basil to the mix for an added herbal kick.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the watermelon, cucumber, and crumbled feta.
  4. Toss gently to mix, being careful not to break up the feta too much.
  5. Grind some fresh black pepper over the top to taste.
  6. If desired, drizzle a little honey or balsamic vinegar for extra flavor.
  7. Toss again to combine everything.
  8. Chill the salad for at least 30 minutes before serving for an extra refreshing bite.
