Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract preferably pure
  • 4 cinnamon sticks cinnamon sticks whole for simmering

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Lid

Method

  1. Pour 4 cups of water into a small saucepan and place it over low heat.
  2. Add the cinnamon sticks to the water, and gently nestle them so they are submerged and can infuse evenly as they simmer.
  3. Turn the heat to low and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer—look for small bubbles forming around the edges of the pan.
  4. Once simmering begins, add vanilla extract to the water, stirring briefly to distribute the aroma evenly.
  5. Keep the mixture at a gentle simmer for about 30 minutes, allowing the vanilla and cinnamon to bloom and fill the room with their warm, sweet scent.
  6. Check periodically to ensure water level remains above the cinnamon sticks, adding more hot water if necessary to maintain the infusion.
  7. Once done, turn off the heat and carefully remove the cinnamon sticks if you prefer a less intense aroma.
  8. Pour the infused water into a decorative bowl or leave it in the saucepan for continued scenting of your space.
  9. Enjoy the cozy, fragrant atmosphere created by the lingering aroma of vanilla and cinnamon wafting through your home.

Notes

Make sure to monitor the water level during simmering to avoid burning the spices. You can add lemon slices or a splash more vanilla for variety. Keep heat low to prevent boiling over or burnt aromas.
