Ingredients

  • Ground beef 1 lb: The hearty base for the lasagna’s filling.
  • Taco seasoning 1 packet: Adds the bold, zesty taco flavor.
  • Tortillas 6-8, flour or corn: Acts as the “noodle” base for this fusion lasagna.
  • Shredded cheese 2 cups, Mexican blend or cheddar: For a melty, cheesy topping.
  • Sour cream 1/2 cup: Adds creaminess to the filling.
  • Tomato sauce 1 cup: Helps create a saucy base that keeps the lasagna moist.

Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking dish
  • Large skillet for cooking the meat
  • Spoon for spreading layers
  • Aluminum foil to cover the dish
  • Knife for slicing

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning and 1/4 cup of water, then simmer for a few minutes.
  4. Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  5. Place a layer of tortillas over the sauce, cutting them as needed to fully cover the bottom of the baking dish.
  6. Spread half of the cooked meat mixture over the tortillas, followed by a layer of cheese.
  7. Add another layer of tortillas and repeat the process with the remaining meat and cheese.
  8. Finish with a final layer of tortillas and top with the remaining cheese.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to crisp up the top.
  11. Let the lasagna rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing to allow the layers to set.
  12. Serve with your favorite taco toppings, such as sour cream or salsa.
