  • 1 lb ground beef preferably 80% lean
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix or homemade spices
  • 1 cup salsa mild or hot to taste
  • 9 noodles lasagna noodles uncooked
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup sour cream for topping
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce for garnish
  • 0.5 cup sliced black olives optional garnish
  • 1 cup crushed tortilla chips for topping

Method
 

  1. Cook the lasagna noodles in boiling water according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 8 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon.

  3. Add the taco seasoning mix and salsa to the cooked beef. Stir well and simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens and is fragrant.

  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a thin layer of the beef mixture at the bottom of a baking dish.

  5. Layer three lasagna noodles over the beef, then spread half of the remaining beef mixture over the noodles. Sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.

  6. Repeat the layers: another three noodles, the remaining beef mixture, and a final layer of noodles. Top with the remaining cheese, sliced black olives, crushed tortilla chips, and dollops of sour cream.

  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
  8. Let the lasagna rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with shredded lettuce and extra toppings if desired. Serve hot.
