Ingredients

  • 12 slices slider buns soft, buttery buns like brioche or dinner rolls
  • 8 slices ham thinly sliced honey-glazed ham
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese or your preferred melting cheese
  • 1/4 cup honey for the glaze
  • 1 dash hot sauce adjust to taste
  • 1 squeeze lemon juice brightens the glaze
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted, for brushing
  • optional for topping poppy seeds or paprika for garnish

Equipment

  • Baking dish
  • Sharp Knife
  • Brush
  • Aluminum foil
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Slice the slider buns in half horizontally, keeping them attached on one side so they stay together. Arrange the bottom halves in a greased baking dish.
  2. Layer slices of ham evenly over the buns, covering the entire surface. Follow with slices of cheese on top of the ham, ensuring each slider gets gooey, melted cheese.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, hot sauce, and lemon juice until well combined. Using a brush, generously coat the top buns with this spicy honey glaze, focusing on the edges for caramelization.
  4. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil to lock in moisture. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and the buns are lightly golden.
  5. Remove the foil and switch to broil mode for 2-3 minutes, watching closely, until the tops are bubbly and golden brown. This adds a delicious crisp and caramelized finish.
  6. Take the sliders out of the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes. This helps the cheese set, making them easier to slice without oozing.
  7. Slice through the sliders with a sharp knife, serving warm. For an extra touch, drizzle any remaining glaze over the top and sprinkle with optional toppings like poppy seeds or paprika for added flair.
