  • Cinnamon sticks 3 sticks, whole: Releases a warm, spicy fragrance.
  • Whole cloves 1 tablespoon: Adds a deep, spicy note.

Method
 

  1. Fill a small pot with 2 cups of water.
  2. Add dried orange slices, dried apple pieces, and cinnamon sticks.
  3. Stir in the whole cloves and vanilla extract (if using).
  4. Place the pot on low heat on the stove or hot plate.
  5. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  6. Let the mixture simmer for 1-2 hours, adding water as needed to maintain fragrance.
  7. Keep the simmering potpourri on low heat for hours of fragrance.
  8. When you’re done, remove the pot from heat.
  9. Let it cool, then store the mixture for reuse.

Notes

Adjust simmering time based on desired strength of aroma. Refill water throughout the day to maintain fragrance, and add fresh spices as needed for continued scent.
