Method
- Pour the apple cider into a saucepan and set over low heat.
- Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, and sliced apple to the cider. Gently nestle the spices and fruit in the liquid.
- Increase the heat slightly until the mixture just starts to bubble around the edges, then reduce to low and let it simmer gently.
- Allow the cider to simmer uncovered for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the aroma is rich and the apple slices are tender.
- Taste the cider and, if desired, add a splash of extra apple juice or a small dash of vanilla extract to enhance sweetness or aroma.
- Strain out the spice sticks, cloves, and apple slices using a slotted spoon or fine sieve to serve the clear, aromatic cider in mugs.
- Pour the warm, fragrant cider into cups, and enjoy the cozy, spiced aroma and comforting taste.
Notes
Adjust simmering time for a more or less intense spice flavor. Use a spice bag for easy removal of cloves, or strain out spice pieces before serving.
