Method
 

  1. Pour apple cider into a medium saucepan.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Add cinnamon sticks to the cider.
  4. Drop in whole cloves for spice infusion.
  5. Wash and thinly slice the fresh apple.
  6. Add apple slices into the saucepan.
  7. Stir gently to combine all ingredients.
  8. Heat the cider until it begins to steam gently, then reduce heat to low and simmer for about 15 minutes.
  9. Taste and simmer longer if stronger flavor is desired.
  10. Ladle into mugs and serve warm.

Notes

Adjust simmering time for a more or less intense spice flavor. Use a spice bag for easy removal of cloves, or strain out spice pieces before serving.
