Ingredients

  • Cucumbers 2 large, preferably seedless or English: Provide a crisp, juicy base for the salad.
  • Lime juice 1 tablespoon, freshly squeezed: Adds a bright, tangy flavor that balances the cucumber’s coolness.
  • Salt ½ teaspoon, preferably sea salt: Enhances the cucumber’s natural taste and draws out moisture for better texture.
  • Red chili pepper 1 small, finely sliced or crushed: Adds heat and color, creating a perfect contrast to the cool cucumbers.

Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Sharp Knife
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon or tongs for tossing

Method

  1. Wash and peel the cucumbers, if desired.
  2. Slice the cucumbers thinly and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Sprinkle with sea salt and toss gently. Let sit for 5–10 minutes to draw out excess moisture.
  4. Slice the red chili pepper finely or crush it (by mashing or chopping) depending on your preference for spice.
  5. Squeeze the fresh lime juice over the cucumbers (for the best flavor, fresh lime juice is preferred, but if needed, bottled lime juice can be used).
  6. Add the chili and toss everything together until well coated.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more salt or lime juice to suit your preference.
  8. Let the salad sit for a few minutes to let the flavors meld.
  9. Serve chilled for a refreshing experience.
  10. Enjoy immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 hours for a cooler, more marinated flavor.
  11. Garnish with extra chili slices or a sprig of mint for an extra pop.
  12. Serve as a side dish or enjoy as a light snack.

Notes

Seedless cucumbers (like English cucumbers) hold their texture better, but if you're using regular cucumbers, simply scoop out the seeds for better results.
