Method
- Wash and peel the cucumbers, if desired.
- Slice the cucumbers thinly and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- Sprinkle with sea salt and toss gently. Let sit for 5–10 minutes to draw out excess moisture.
- Slice the red chili pepper finely or crush it (by mashing or chopping) depending on your preference for spice.
- Squeeze the fresh lime juice over the cucumbers (for the best flavor, fresh lime juice is preferred, but if needed, bottled lime juice can be used).
- Add the chili and toss everything together until well coated.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more salt or lime juice to suit your preference.
- Let the salad sit for a few minutes to let the flavors meld.
- Serve chilled for a refreshing experience.
- Enjoy immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 hours for a cooler, more marinated flavor.
- Garnish with extra chili slices or a sprig of mint for an extra pop.
- Serve as a side dish or enjoy as a light snack.
Notes
Seedless cucumbers (like English cucumbers) hold their texture better, but if you're using regular cucumbers, simply scoop out the seeds for better results.
