Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3-4 cloves garlic thinly sliced
  • 1 cup frozen peas no need to thaw
  • to taste salt
  • to taste freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 squeeze lemon juice optional, brightens the dish
  • optional chopped parsley or mint for garnish

Equipment

  • Medium skillet
  • Sharp Knife
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Measuring spoon

Method

  1. Start by heating a medium skillet over medium heat until warm.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet and let it melt completely, shimmering gently as it coats the bottom.
  3. Once the butter is melted and fragrant—about 30 seconds—add the thinly sliced garlic to the pan.
  4. Sizzle the garlic until golden and fragrant, about 30 seconds to 1 minute, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  5. Immediately add the frozen peas directly from the bag into the skillet, stirring well to coat them in the buttery garlic mixture.
  6. Cook the peas for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are heated through, tender, and vibrant green with a slight pop when pressed.
  7. Season generously with salt and freshly cracked black pepper, tasting and adjusting until balanced.
  8. If desired, squeeze a little lemon juice over the peas for a bright, fresh finish, then stir to combine.
  9. Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the peas to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped parsley or mint if you like a herbal touch.
  10. Serve immediately while the peas are still bright, glossy, and fragrant—perfect as a cozy side or a quick, satisfying bite.

Notes

For an even richer flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes when sautéing the garlic. To keep the peas bright and crisp, avoid overcooking beyond 3 minutes. This dish pairs beautifully with grilled meats or can be enjoyed on its own for a light, flavorful snack.
