Ingredients

  • 8 slices fresh figs ripe for maximum sweetness
  • 4 ounces Brie cheese semi-soft, cut into small cubes
  • 2 teaspoons honey or balsamic glaze optional for drizzling
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or basil chopped, optional

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Sharp Knife
  • Small spoon or spatula
  • Cooling rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Slice the figs into thin rounds about ¼ inch thick, arranging them evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Cut the Brie into small cubes, roughly the size of a grape, and set aside.
  4. Place a small Brie cube on top of each fig slice, pressing gently so it stays in place.
  5. Sprinkle chopped herbs over the assembled bites if using, adding a fresh, fragrant touch.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes, until the Brie is melted and bubbly, and the figs are slightly caramelized around the edges.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the bites cool for a minute. Drizzle with honey or balsamic glaze for a glossy finish and extra flavor.
  8. Transfer the bites to a cooling rack to rest briefly, then serve warm or at room temperature for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

For a crunchier base, try using toasted crostini or puff pastry rounds instead of figs. Adjust baking time as needed for different cheese textures.
