Method
 

  1. Pour vegetable broth or water into a saucepan.
  2. Add apple cider to the liquid base.
  3. Stir gently to combine flavors.
  4. Add dried orange peel to the pot.
  5. Drop in star anise pod.
  6. Add whole allspice berry.
  7. Stir in chopped carrot pieces.
  8. Add chopped celery stalk.
  9. Heat until steam begins to rise, then reduce immediately to a low simmer.
  10. Reduce heat to maintain low simmer.
  11. Allow spices to infuse slowly.
  12. Strain or use directly in recipes as desired.

Notes
